Bouchra Lamhamedi completes her doctoral research on the land-renewable energy Nexus.
The dissertation investigates how renewable energy development affects and reconfigures tenure arrangements, community agency, and spatial justice. Specifically, it evaluates the difference in the influence of large-scale versus community-based renewable energy projects in different developing countries and institutional contexts. The study underscores that land is not just a material resource but a contested social and institutional actant which both influences and is being influenced by external interventions, such as investments in renewable energy. The examination committee consisted of Professors Christoph Holst, Jaap Zevenbergen (University Twente) and Walter Timo de Vries.
