Engineering Project for Bachelor Students: Carbon Shells for a Lower-Limb Exoskeleton
As part of the TUM Engineering Project offered at the Chair of Carbon Composites, bachelor students get the chance to go beyond theory and gain hands-on engineering experience.
In collaboration with the student team TUM DASH, bachelor students Okke Warner, Ben Tenkmann, and Paul Röhner, supervised by Chih-Yu Chen, designed and manufactured carbon composite shells for a lower-limb exoskeleton. Throughout the semester, they worked through every step of composite part development from component design and mold creation to lamination and post-processing of high-performance carbon fiber parts.
The result: lightweight components that demonstrate how composite materials can enhance medical assistive devices by improving comfort and reducing weight. We are proud to support motivated students in bringing their own ideas to life from concept to real, functional prototypes!
