The 17th International Conference on Flow Processes in Composite Materials (FPCM) took place this year at the University of Sheffield in UK. Held every two years, the conference showcases the latest research into flow processes in composites, with a strong focus on the VARI and RTM processes. In addition to presentations by researchers from around the world, an Industry Day was held for the first time, during which challenges and research questions from the industry were raised and discussed directly. The event was concluded with a tour of the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), which was established in collaboration with Boeing.

The Chair of Carbon Composites was also represented at this conference. David Faron presented his current research findings as part of the Lufo 6-3 PUNCH project, focusing on the characterisation of compaction, permeability and swelling in flax-based hybrid composites, thereby making a significant contribution to a better understanding of this field.
