The increasing availability of 4D point clouds from permanent laser scanning, UAV surveys, and time-lapse photogrammetry enables near-continuous monitoring of Earth surface dynamics. However, large spatiotemporal datasets are often managed with inconsistent or incomplete time-dependent metadata, limiting interoperability and reusability. We introduce topo4d, a 4D extension to the SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog (STAC), designed to standardize and automate metadata generation for 3D time series data regardless of source or temporal resolution. The project provides tools, tutorials, and documented workflows demonstrated on environmental monitoring use cases, supporting FAIR data practices and improving research data management for 4D topographic datasets in Earth system sciences.
