Applied Remote Sensing
Professor Strunz studied Geodesy from 1979 to 1984 and graduated from TUM with a degree in engineering (Dipl.-Ing.). He worked as a research assistant in the Department of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing at TUM and received his PhD in Remote Sensing in 1992. Since 1993 he has been a member of the scientific staff at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) where he is head of the “Geo Risks and Civil Security” department at DLR’s Earth Observation Center.
The main research fields of Professor Strunz are satellite based earth observation and its applications in environmental monitoring and geo risks research, and the development of early warning systems for natural hazards. He has been lecturing at TUM since 1999. In 2007 he was appointed honorary professor. He has published more than 100 scientific papers.
