After this course, students are able to understand and apply the basics of satellite communications and the specificities of satellite networks. Moreover, they are able to use their basic knowledge of satellite communication systems in concrete tasks and have a broad overview of existing and planned systems for different application scenarios.

Studien-, Prüfungsleistung

In a 90-minutes written examination students are required to answer typical problems that arise in the field of satellite communications and apply their knowledge via short calculations. During the semester, an optional graded 45-minutes written midterm examination is offered. It accounts for 25% of the final grade, but will be credited only if this results in an improvement of the overall grade. In the midterm exam students demonstrate understanding of the basics of communications required to further follow the lecture. Students are allowed to use 8 handwritten DIN A4 pages and a non-programmable pocket calculator.
