TUM Associate Professorship of Land Management Hold Land Management and Land Tenure International Alumni Seminar 2020 to Mark 20th anniversary of Master Programme.

Since its creation in 2000, the Master Programme in Land Management and Land Tenure (LMLT) from the Technical University of Munich has qualified more than 200 practitioners from around the globe in interdisciplinary approaches to land management in the international context. With this in mind, the 20th anniversary of the Master’s Programme offers an occasion to celebrate achievements, but also to consolidate our alumni network.

The Associate Professorship of Land Management will hold the LMLT International Alumni Seminar under the theme “Reflection on the past for future perspectives, voices from around the world”

The alumni-based seminar is an opportunity to get together, share experiences, establish linkages with international practitioners and researchers, and discuss the way forward to strengthen human and institutional capacities in the field of land management.

  • The objectives of the LMLT International Alumni Seminar 2020 “Reflection on the past for future perspectives, voices from around the world” are to Assess the impact of 20 years of LMLT, making an evaluation of the social capital, know-hows and developments generated over the years in different countries.
  • Update the database of lecturers and alumni in order to strengthen a collaboration network that could be used for further projects and research.
  • Determine the status quo of land management and land tenure in the global context.
  • Make a critical analysis to set out research capacity requirements and priorities in the field of land management and land tenure in the future.

The expected outcomes are:

  • An updated database with contact information and the current position and organization of the alumni and lecturers.
  • A series of presentations and panel discussions based on the experiences of the alumni.
  • A book of abstracts. The suggested topic would be the impact of 20 years of land management and land tenure, “A reflection on the past for future perspectives, voices from around the world”.

The seminar would convene c.150 participants consisting of alumni, lecturers and representatives from institutions, for which a space for networking will be provided during the reception. The 2-day seminar is scheduled as follows:

Date: 6th and 7th of April 2020

Place: Vorhoelzer Forum (presentations) and Immatrikulationshalle (reception) of the Techincal University of Munich in Arcisstraße 21, 80333 Munich, Germany
