Ms Ebelechukwu Maduekwe Successfully Defends Her Doctoral Thesis

Ms Ebelechukwu Maduekwe, defended her doctoral dissertation in a virtual PhD viva voce on the 15th of April, 2020. Her PhD thesis entitled, Examining the economic impact of human recognition of women farmers in Malawi, concludes that human recognition is a significant concept of human development and is instrumental to improving resource access like land. It also concludes that women are less likely to receive negative human recognition if they have educated partners and are highly educated themselves (among other conclusions).

Dr. rer. nat. Ebele Maduekwe’s thesis defence was chaired by Prof. Dr. Thomas H. Kolbe. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr.ir. Walter Timo de Vries, and examined together with Prof. Dr. Gertrud Buchenrieder and Prof. Dr. Stephan Pauleit.

The virtual PhD defence was conducted on Zoom online platform due to the inability to conduct a physical classroom exams during this period of the Coronavirus lockdown. Present during the exam were:
