For the Future Lab on Artificial Intelligence in Earth Observation
we are looking for a

Science Manager

About us

AI methods, and especially machine learning (ML) with deep neural networks have replaced traditional data analysis methods in recent years. The Technical University of Munich (TUM), together with its partners, has created the biggest European research team on AI for Earth Observation (AI4EO) over the past few years. The TUM Chair for Data Science in Earth Observation develops innovative methods for information extraction from remote sensing data. For the BMBF-funded Future Lab on Artificial Intelligence in Earth Observation (AI4EO) hosted by the Chair, we are looking for a senior scientist / science manager for the scientific management of the lab. The Future Lab AI4EO brings 20 renowned international organizations in 9 countries and 27 highly-ranked scientists together to research three fundamental, yet rarely addressed, challenges faced by EO-specific cutting-edge AI research, namely, Reasoning, Uncertainties, and Ethics. In addition, other innovative AI4EO topics will be addressed by our Beyond Fellow program, based on which ca. 70 highly talented PhD and PostDoc researchers will invited to visit our lab. For more details, please visit: ai4eo.de

Requirements

Promising applicants have a PhD degree in mathematics, computer science, machine learning, remote sensing or similar. In detail, we expect:

·       a scientific track record related to the relevant field (AI, machine learning, computer vision, Earth observation)

·       proven skills in management or administration of scientific projects

·       excellent communication skills and team spirit

·       fluent command of German and English language, both written and spoken

What we offer

We offer the possibility to join a highly visible flagship project with connections to both artificial intelligence and Earth observation as exciting and innovative fields of cutting-edge research. Given the international nature of the future lab, the position comes with excellent opportunities for international networking.

The Technical University of Munich wants to increase the number of female employees, i.e. qualified female

candidates are explicitly encouraged to apply for this position. Severely disabled candidates will be preferred if they are essentially similarly qualified and suitable for the position.
