Research interests
My main interest is the stability of tropical forests under climate change. To monitor their stability, remote sensing is a key source of spatiotemporal data. From those data sets, resilience estimators which are based on dynamical systems theory can be calculated and used to assess resilience change. In my work, I focus on enhancing the robustness of resilience estimations by mainly two approaches: first, using spatial resilience estimators that exploit the dimensionality of the data, and second, by investigating suitable combinations of data sets and resilience estimators.
I am part of the ESA Climate Change Initiative project SIRENE. In SIRENE, we advance resilience monitoring of terrestial vegetation ecosystems via remote sensing data and quantify the uncertainties accumulating within the approaches.
