On 28 May, the Geodetic Summer Colloquium 2025 brought together professionals, scientists, and students at the Oskar von Miller Forum in Munich for a day of insightful presentations and dialogue on the diverse topics of geodesy. Once again, our professorship is proud to be part of this interdisciplinary platform for exchange between academia, industry, and early-career researchers, and had the honor this year to lead the event organization together with Julia Geiger, chair of DVW Bayern e.V.
Organized by DVW Bayern e.V. (Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation, and Land Management Bavaria) and the TUM Department of Aerospace and Geodesy, the event featured four diverse and engaging talks: Nicolas Keckl (Munich Airport) presented on the use of geodata in airport operations, Prof. Florian Seitz introduced advances in geodetic geodynamics, JProf. Anette Eltner discussed geosensor systems for environmental monitoring, and Julia Gottfriedsen (OroraTech) showcased AI-supported wildfire monitoring using satellite data.
The broad range of topics from digital infrastructure and sensor technologies to remote sensing and environmental applications highlighted the technological sophistication and societal as well as ecological relevance of modern geodesy.
We are grateful to all presenters, participants, and organizers for making this year’s colloquium a resounding success. We especially thank also DVW Bayern and TUM ASG for the financial support of the event.
We look forward to the next edition in 2026!
