TUM-LCC visits project partner IVW in Kaiserslautern as part of the MaTaInH2 project

On July 18, 2023, two members of the Chair of Carbon Composites went on a visit to the project partners of the renowned Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe (IVW) in Kaiserslautern. The occasion of this meeting was the joint project "Material efficient and cycle time optimized industrialization of H2 pressure vessels" (MaTaInH2).

During the visit, a Type IV tank was manufactured using the pre-impregnated fiber tows (towpregs) developed and produced at TUM. The fabrication of the tank opened up opportunities for the identification of development and optimization potentials. Moreover, further measures to improve the manufacturing process were discussed in a technical exchange. The collaboration will thus enable optimized process performance and further automation of the manufacturing process for the remaining period of the project. This way, the team aims to achieve the best possible result in terms of performance and reliability of the developed tanks.
