ISP – Integrated System for Process Chain Data Acquisition

The aim of the project is to develop a hardware and software platform that can be used to analyze machine parameters and process variables of aerospace production processes.

Project Partners
Ariane Group, Cevotec, DXC Technology, fortiss, InFactors Solutions

Duration
01.01.2017 – 31.12.2019

Funding authority
Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy

Motivation
The influence of machine parameters and environmental conditions on production quality and process stability is not fully understood for many production processes in the aerospace industry. For this reason, important parameters of production machines are recorded and analyzed in ISP. The aim of the project is to gain a better understanding of the selected processes. In addition, an automated evaluation of the process data of different machines on a single platform is made possible. This will make the processes more productive and of higher quality as well as allow the implementation of quality inspection for the processes. Furthermore, a concept for the digitization of different production machines will be developed.

Method
A prototype of the InFactory Solutions quality inspection system will initially be integrated in the existing Coriolis AFP machine at the LCC. After a comprehensive analysis of all machine parameters, environmental conditions and existing sensors, lay-up trials are carried out. By varying the various system parameters as well as by selecting different geometries and stacking configurations during the tests, we determine which variables are relevant and how they affect the process. Test specimens are manufactured and their production is monitored with the InFactory Solutions quality inspection system. Finally, we establish the correlation between final part quality and production conditions.
